Reggae star Gregory Isaacs has died at the age of 59. The Jamaican singer, best known for his 1982 track "Night Nurse", passed away at his London home on Monday morning, October 25 after a long battle with cancer.
His wife Linda, who was at his side when he died, says, "Gregory was well-loved by everyone, his fans and his family, and he worked really hard to make sure he delivered the music they loved and enjoyed. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends."
Isaacs began working on music in his native Jamaica in the 1960s and went on to release more than 50 albums in a career spanning four decades. His song "Night Nurse" entered the charts again in 1997 when it was covered by British pop group Simply Red, and his last record, "Brand New Me", was released in 2008.
Isaacs is survived by his wife and children.
